Does anybody here know if you can splice together a VGA cable to an RCA? I know companies make them but they cost about $120. I actually just want it to do video, not audio.
Seems if manufacturers can make them, I could too...

Aug 03, 2002 02:36 pm By VGA cable do you mean the 15 pin monitor cable like a PC uses? Have you check the local Electronics store like Radio Shack (or those are common in the US anyway?).
Might I ask why you need to do this? If I know the 'why' maybe I can come up with a better 'how' :-)

Aug 03, 2002 11:06 pm OOOOOOOOOOOH, the reason they are hard to make at home is the sheilding and getting the right wire's to use for standard video hook up. I think that is what you are trying to do, correct? Convert the VGA out of the PC to the RCA in of the TV? Or vice versa?

Aug 04, 2002 02:32 am Well, see, I have this really nice LCD computer monitor and instead of using it for a PC, I want to hook up a VCR and nintendo and stuff like that and put it in my room. No, there is no pc involved.
However, if there is any way getting around the $100 price tag for a real adapter, I`d like to take it.
Yes, it is a 15 pin.
Aug 04, 2002 08:45 am Ohhhhh, I get it, in that case, I would guess you probably can make it, but there is a lot more invloved in working with those pieces than with simple audio cables, and the parts alone may cost you some good money, personally, I would give the $100 and buy one premade...
If you do find a way to make one, please share your findings, as I would really like to know just to have the knowledge to toss in the ol' bag o' tricks :-)...
