Thinking of acuiring this piece...

I was looking into the Digi002 rack but hear stuff about the Pro Tools compatability on a PC. They "say" its compatible but I still read on various sites the difficulty it causes at times...

In any case I might go Pro Tools M-Powered...

I have a couple buddies that use the 002 pretty well on PC...the reviews of the 1010 (not the LT) have been mostly positive, most problems people have had boiled down to user error due to m-audios sort of messy control panel.

Hmmm...Well the almighty Deebs has spoken which about rids my fear of the 002 purchase...Though as you noted on the 1010 alot of the issues could be user error as well...For all we know they coulda been hooking into a PII-Win98 system lol....

I figure with the interface and all the software included...that $1200 is a pretty decent deal.

The only thing I might consider is ousting the Triton LE if this 002 setup will not allow it as a MIDI device...We all know the awareness of Digidesign acute compatability radar...

OK, well for starters, I am not claiming to be an authority on either device...just claim to know a few that have used both, and have actually seen the 002 in action once or twice.

As far as MIDI goes, well, if it's just strickly MIDI data you are moving around, why involve any piece of gear that is gonna be a hassle, just run it thru any old MIDI port...

Not that I am encouraging ProTools use of any sort, but I digress, ya know my feelings there so I'll spare ya. :-)

Yeah I was expecting to get savaged on mentioning Pro Tools but I was suprised... :)

I have two guys I know who use PT on a MAC and on a PC and they have never complained...

Pro Tools sucks. :-)

Just kidding.

Anwyay, if you run with the Delta 1010, it has an onboard midi interface so you would not need to oust the Triton.

I use a 1010 and love it.

At first I was leary about not having built in pre-amps, but in retrospect it offers a lot of flexibility and (since the quality of the converters are quite good) a very inexpensive upgrade path.

I got mine used on eBay for around $300 US.

I don't have any problem with the control panel.

The unit has also been out for so long that they have all the driver bugs worked out.

And M-audio offers 64 bit drivers for the 1010 if you think you are going to try that any time soon.

Personally, I am old school, but I prefer a pci card to going through a firewire or usb bus.
