Hi.
im new to home recording and i bought the m-audio firewire solo.
I installed it and it seems to be alright.
I can see in the control panel that when i plug the guitar it works and the mixer shows signs of life.

I have Cubase SX and i want to use it to recording, and here starts my problem.
I cant get The configuration right so it works...
What i want to do is use the input through the m-audio(not direct monitoring so i can use the DSP), and the output is through my original computer sound card.
is that possible? if not how can i use the m-audio output and make the DSP available in cubase beacuse what a read in the guide only with tape-type monitoring i can use the FX.

thanks!

Well, using your PC soundcard for the output is not going to work very well, if at all. The 2 sound card's have completely differant timing characteristic's so that will hurt the sound right off. You should have no problem using the M-Audio's outputs right along with the input's at the same time since that is what they are meant to do. Using the DSP is dependant on the recording application and only effected by the sound card if you use direct monitering. You will however have latency to deal with when running through the DSP but it should be pretty low if your system is set up correctly. In Sonar I simply patch an FX in and play with no problem at all. Cubase should be pretty much the same.
