Two New Songs Up

All right...I didn't make Bleak's Christmas song deadline, but I'm still working on one!

In the meantime, I just (as in tonight) recorded two new songs to put on a CD to give to each of my students tomorrow morning.

The first on is called "I Love This School". I put new words to a Toby Keith song (Country, in case you've never heard of him.)

here's a direct link:

The second song is called "You Ain't Going to Sixth Grade", set to the tune of a Bob Dylan song. (I only steal from the best!!)

Linky:

I recorded them very quickly (as in one take per track) because of the impending deadline. Recorded, mixed and "mastered" using GarageBand. Drums and bass are fake, everything else is me.

It's too late to do anything about it now, but I'd be interested in your comments about the songs and how they sound!

Thanks!

Jim

PS I just finished duping 18 CDs and affixing the labels. Teacher goes Indie.

Jim

I have your Cutaways tracks downloaded and ready to blast, which, I shall do tonight most likely and I'll give these a listen too.

Sounds very cool indeed....as for the "indie" labelling etc...thats the future my friend...though, if you get yasel an Epson R200 Printer, you can inject the CD INTO the printer and it prints directly to the surface...excellent quality and not to expensive.

Top notch for this type of thing..I have one and it rocks and beats the auld labels!!!

Will be back at ya with comments soon bud.

Keep a rockin Indie Teacher ;-) !

Jim, I loved em both. The lyric's are great and your voice puts just the right touch on em. Your pickin really add's the right touch as well. The fake bass and drum's sure worked out nicely, I wouldn't complain at all. Mix is great as well. I think the kid's will surely enjoy it.

Jim

Now listened to the both songs.

First one I listened to was the "Love School" one. Very cool indeed and I might add, very good mix. For fake drums/bass (which I couldnt really say made any detriment to the song), they sound darn good and as usual, the geetarin is good work. Vocals spot on but the best thing about it is, the lyrics...GREAT song man!

The second one, was also cool and again, stand out lyrics for the job in hand. Again, nicely orchestrated and in the timescales you had, ye'd never know it so, again, good effort man.

Indeed, 2 worthy songs and good recording/mixing as to my ears.

Good job!

Thanks for the kind words, boys! The CD was a hit at school yesterday morning. I think they were a bit surprised that their old teacher was capable of such a thing!

Don't know how I missed this! Dang Jim your really sounding good (as always) a couple very nice tunes! I think mixes sound very good, everything is clear and sounding great! Can't go wrong with a Dylan tune, really like the lyrics on 6th Grade, very cool. :)
