The obligatory "new years resolution" thread...

OK, people, what do we have here, many people make them, few people achieve them. I actually kept mine last year, I got in better shape, lost wieght and am still actively working out.

- I am going to keep that path, want to be down to 200 and a brown belt in Kenpo by the end of the year...but there are a few roadblocks I hope to clear up to make that possible

- I hope to keep HRC on the path it started two years ago with active and constant growth in member base and connections with manufacturers to continue to bring the latest news and such to you.

I don't really believe in new years resolutions. If I see a change that needs to be made, I prefer to make it right away rather than wait until new years rolls around. However this year, I'm making specific goals for 2006 that I want to accomplish, so that's kinda similar.

I want to complete an EP by the end of April, and I want to complete an additional full length album by the end of the year. That's a lot of writing I need to get done!

I have a fitness goal of 300 situps, pushups, 15 lb curls, and crunches and pushups every day rotating situps & curls one day and crunches & pushups the next. I'll probably cut it down to just focus on situps and crunches next week... :)

I reciently started an openoffice spreadsheet to keep track of how many in what sets I can do day by day.

It's odd to be ble to say:
"I do 300 situps a day and have the spreadsheet to prove it!!!" :)

I also need to get back into college, have a steadier income, move, play shows with the new band, get out more, cut back on drinking pop, etc.

Well only 2 really weh it all boils down.

Give an honest shot to quit smokin again.

Spend more time writing again. Both musically and printed matter. I have ton's to say about music, and really should point more of it toward HRC as I had done in the early day's. Post's are great, but they soon get left behind in the dust. An article that gets in the archive's is forever.

So anybody got anything, aside from the product review's they wanna pick my brain on. Hopefully 30 plus years doing this has left me a little smarter.

Oh, ya maybe a third one here. Get the boyz box set up for their own little studio and spend a bit of time helping them get into the music creation side a little more.

Ha! I got you all beat. I made one a few years ago:

To never again make another New Year's Resolution.

And it's been the best one I've ever made. Easy to stick to.

Ooh yeah, if you're looking to get a house, better have all your old returns in order.

I'm not a resolution kind of guy, more like making changes when I see the need (or am told of the need). I got lots of work to do on the house, and the studio. Plus the yard, so those are expected goals.

On the personal side, I'm always on the lookout for mean old Mr. Critical, which pops out now and again. I'm always trying to make myself a better person, through peace, tolerance, and understanding. Instead of short-ness, intolerance, and being critical. So that's some goal areas as well.

Of course, I'd love to play and record more this year, as last year was a real pain (with the fire, and all). I gots new guitars, and can barely play them. =(

My new years resolutions: to improve my guitar playing, and to start setting up my in-house studio. Oh, yeah - get up enough nerve to play solo on-stage. I've got friends doing it, I just need to drink a little more - I mean, get a little more - courage.

Help! I wanna quit the band Im in! But I started it as a jam to help out a couple of venues and now there's enough work to go part time on my day job.If I go down this road I'll be trapped. My life long drummer friend is just waiting to do more gigs, and Ive got some talented guys who Ive known and worked with before ready to roll. Starting again is a pain but Ive got to do it this year.Take a peak at Stoned again on google the singers photo's still on there, you can tell he has got what it takes! Good luck with your quests.

This year I resolve to stop telling people what to do, and I think everyone here should do the same.

I don't usually do resolutions, but this year I want to start writing songs again. Also I want to record my 2 LPs and 1 EPs worth of material so that I can finally bury it and move forward.

"Procrastinators-R-Us" - which should be our family name...

We're going to make a big effort to keep up with the birthday cards, christmas cards/gifts, and correspondence. We're crap at it.
By the way, that "we" has 'er indoors included. Wasn't getting all royal...

OK so...

I would like to (NOTE: NO "will"):

1) Record a new EP
2) Finish my John Lennon tribute song with Guitar Jim (was aiming for 08th Dec but missed that due to my not finishing the lyrics etc!!)
3) Sell another £100 of my charity song
4) Start gigging with the 'Riot
5) Write another 10 "good" songs in 2006 (2 started already and unreleased)
6) Learn piano (err, keyboard, same dif I Guess)
7) Cut down on the smoking if not stop
8) Somehow find time for everything else like life
9) Finish a few personal websites I started some time ago
10) Somehow be happy in everything :-) !

Ahhhh, joys of new year...

Cheers

Coco.

Well I already started one of mine in october, to practice hard and increase my accuracy in guitar playing. Thats coming along well enough. The latest one is I'm going to figure out how to use things like VST instruments and such. It cant be as hard as I have imagined it to be and I feel like I'm missing the boat on that.

Rather than a new years resolution, these are more long term goals...

To become a world class Recording and Mixing Engineer and Producer that bands want to work with! :-)

Start dancing ballet and ceroc again...

Record some of my own stuff properly, this I've kinda started, and to Get "The Rock Factory" up to a profitable and live offable state for both me and my partner, and any engineers/people we might end up hiring, and ofcourse help lots of bands do what they love in the process...

Finish Sonic's Album (January), Finish Killt's Album (February)... and hopefully be booked to do about an Album a month for local bands, as well as other in between projects like EPs and Singles.

To be able to record, and within the same week, give that band their finished mixed and mastered product.
To see if I can Record and mix between 100 and 150 songs to a high quality standard in 1 year!!!

To make a cool Rock Factory "Summer 2006" Compilation and Market it...

Find or build a proper "Concrete Bunker" premises for the Rock Factory, so that "the Tin Shed" can be used solely for band rehearsals, and I can have my recording and mixing gear permanantly setup somewhere, and not have to take it away after every day/night I record.

Research, Action and Write a Thesis on how to get the "Big Studio Sound" in a "Small Budget Studio", and make most of the info in it available in web "tips" form for people interested in Audio Engineering to read.

um... there's a start!! ;-)

My aspirations for this coming year:

1. Teach myself more about Architecture, enter a design competition, and work on getting my licence.

2. Loose a little weight and eat healthier.

3. Get my music project on full gear. I would love to have the album done by summer.

Goodluck guys and Happy New Year!

Cheers!

I'm with you on that one, Die !

Also musicwise, I need to replace the fusebox in the studio, with a breaker box that doesn't induce a freakin' hum on every track I make . That way I can actually make music IN the studio that I poured my heart into building the last coupl'a years . :-/

Sign my first 'artist' that I'm not collaborating with .

I also said I would see an Ocean this year, which will happen the third week of January, when I visit a friend in Texas... on my way to Florida . Road trip from hell !!! wOOt !

Lastly...
I going to do alot more kayaking this year... not miss out on the high water in the spring, and finish the other half of the Ausable River(another 100 miles or so), maybe solo it's South Branch, as well . So, yeah... more floating, and camping !

More living, and less consuming !
