So this is a track from out upcoming EP. I engineered, mixed, and mastered this using Nuendo, my firepod, uad and some waves plug-ins, wavelab, and rode, akg, shure, and audix mics. I'd love to hear opinions. It's always good to get that outisde input on a project that's entirely self-recorded. Give me a shout! The audio is at www.myspace.com/yearlingmusic and the first track "Bells" is downloadable (the streaming quality is horrible so download it to get a truer representation of the music, although it is converted to mp3 format). Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!

Dec 15, 2005 07:57 pm Very good mix. The vocal mix is excelant and chorus parts as well. Everything sit's nicely on both tunes from what I can hear. Nice simple mix with all part's in place.
Definately radio worthy in my opinion.
Be patient, as i am sure some other's will stop by and have a listen as well.

Dec 15, 2005 11:09 pm Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate the kind words because as you know it's difficult to objectively mix music that you performed on and recorded. I appreciate the compliments. Anyone care for the song at all? I'm sure it's not everyone's style, but just wondering if anyone grooved on it! THanks again guys!

Dec 16, 2005 12:08 pm Mate,
Just heard 'bells'. like noize it's not my thing but I had to say something.
The arrangment is great, b-vox well placed simple arpeggiated guitar is nice. The mix sound's good.
Please tell your drummer that he has a great ear. the verse beats are great and he really adds some interesting stuff going in and out of sections.
Nice work.

Dec 17, 2005 04:15 am Thanks so much for the good words. Other than the difficulties of tracking, it was tricky to mix down about 40 tracks of audio to a stereo field and then mastering it to get the volume up. I'm pretty happy with the overall mix. Our drummer is awesome. He's one of those guys that could show off all day long, but he'd rather sit right there in the pocket and add some texture to the groove of the song. He does almost all of the vocal harmonies as well. Thanks for the feedback, keep em coming, positive and negative!
