i want a record player

Good luck with that.

The cartirdge alone for my turntable just cost me $250.00 for the next to high end one. The top one was $325.00. Mostly because its an older Yamaha precision turntable with a funky arm.

IF I were you I'd watch the Guitar Center add's or check Musicians Friend for Dj turntable's and go from there.

it could even be used. i see players for like 25 bucks on ebay. or how about pawn shops? flea markets? i only need the thing so i can rip these old records to mp3. old stuff from my childhood, things that cannot be found elsewhere. a few christmas albums, basically. i figured i could pick up a real cheapo unit, used, no?

Well used, indeed you should be able to find one kinda cheap. Dont scrimp to much though as some of them cheesy one's will rumble like hell. I think one of the pawn shop's up here had a used one for less the $50 so I am guessing you can find a cheap one there.
