Monday the 6th is my birthday, and I also put in for vacation this week, so I may not be at the forum very often as I am trying to build a cobblestone patio during this time.

Some vacation, eh? So far I have moved, stacked and shoveled 3.5 ton of brick and 2 ton of crushed limestone..WooHoo, huh?

Anyway, I just wanted to let ya'll know I may not be around that much this week, but the forum was pretty quiet this weekend, hope ya'll enjoyed the weekend since ya weren't here :-)

Happy Birthday there dB. I am helping (still) my brother build a brick patio. Never again is all I have to say, what a pain in the butt. On a personal note, I feel for you because its been no fun for me, so I am sure it might suck for you too. Byt the way, it was cinco-de-mayo, we were all out getting hammered of course!!! :) Marc (da still kinda hung-over Sharc)

I will be bringin the B-day boy a few beer's sometime during the week from all you guy's out there making this site what it is again.

And while dB was playing on the patio, and Marc was CINCING IN DE-MAYO, I was out being a good boy scout leader for our spring Camporall. Playing with 4000 scout's and freezing my a** off (it got down to 30 degree's) all for the sake of my son and his buddy's.

Oh geez, thanks for the pep-talk there msharc :-) Actually, it hasn't been too bad so far I got the retaining wall up (3 course high) now, if it stops raining today I want to fill it in with the base...it's been going OK, too much heavy lifting, but hasn't been too hard...

Especially considering how cool it is gonna look compared to a simple deck or cement slab patio...a cool cobblestone patio is gonna look really neat, and add a lot to the value of our house.

Oh, I agree that it looks good. We have about 2/3's of my brothers done and it looks nice, but we've been working on it for over two months. Main;y because of rain as of late. We had to dig by hand the base and grade it away from his house. There was a lot of earth to move away to level it and then grade it. We then filled it with gravel, then stone dust on top of that and now are laying the bricks. It a big patio, to give you an idea we needed almost 12 tons of gravel to fill it in. Personally, I like building decks, I think I'll stick to that. Good luck, hopefully yours goes smoother! :)

OK, I got another 5 ton or so of rock moved to my new patio and other landscaping areas this weekend. Msharc, I know what you are saying about the weather, rain has kinda slowed the process a little for me too, but ya know what, the more rain you get between work days the better the base gets packed and weathered, so it is kinda good in a way...unless you want something NOW! :-)

Now that the major truckloads are out of the way I get to start laying sod when the final grade is done...Noize, my wife is grilling up some Von Hansons Grill Steaks for anyone who helps! For you non-Minnesota people, VonHansons is the best meat and jerky place in the world!

And, of course, Beer goes without saying...as long as nobody gets so drunk they start forgetting "green side up"...hehehe

I am posting pics of the patio when I am done, it is gonna be awesome!

I am STILL working on that darn patio!!! We used stone dust over top of gravel, which surprisingly how some pros do it. ANyways, we laid a bunch of bricks after we got the stone dust compacted and everything and those bricks are SOLID. But, it rained and we went back and did some more and its all mushy and the bricks were all wobbly so we pulled them up and tried to let it dry. UNfortunately, every time we try to elt it dry, the day or so before we are going to wrok on it, he gets rain. What a pain, I am never building one of these again if I can help it. I wish I could say I was jealous that everyone was getting fed well and beered up for free, but I'll stay here rather than build more of those things! lol Good luck guys.

ps-I saw the new Star Wars the other day, don't know if any of you like it that much, but I dig e'm. Its ok, but the best part was seeing Yoda...He's a bad mofo!!! I'd be wanting some force to move all those stones! lol

I don't know, I don't want to give the jist of the movie away for those who haven't see it, but I can't say that this series is my favorite. Even with all the special effects, which ARE incredible, and the fight scenes in the new ones are much better than in the old, there is something that just isn't as good as the originals. I think I figuredf ouot what aprt of it is. I watched Empire Strikes Back with my brother the other day and I noticed that the old ones were not directed by George Lucas and I think the new ones are if I am not mistaken. I think the "feel" for the new ones is not like the old ones and I think that maybe that's what it is. By all accounts the I should liek the new ones more, the acting is better, the special effects, and there is more plot in these and they are longer, but maybe its jst the nostalgia factor of seeing the old ones when I was a kid and therefore they are the "true" Star Wars to me. Dunno. But, like I said, Yoda is a bad mofo in this one. I know that Lucas had all of them written before they started the first one, A New Hope, but its great to see some details coming to gether that make you go, "oh yeah, that ties into so and so..." ANyways, the new one is long, but its a definte must see. Does anyone know if they have released the originals on DVD yet? I have them on VHS, but my b-day is coming soon adn I thought that'd be cool to have. I guess I can go to the web. Later all.

ps-When Epi. I came out they had an email that had top ten things for Samuel L. Jackson to say in it, I think my favorite was, "Hand me my lightsaber, its the one that says Bad Mother F'er on it." That dude is cool.

All I can say is I wish Yoda had been my father, I think his wisdom would have been a great help in my younger day's. Then again, maybe not, look at Luke, he ran off B4 his learning was done.

In all reality, he did kill his father.

Yeah, but his father was evil and in the end he turned him good. That should get a few brownie points, and he didn't sleep with his sister and he didn't know she WAS his sister. Maybe they had a W.Va. galaxy back then! Who knows. But, you are right, he kinda was a putz. Han Solo was the man to be honest. Everyone wanted to be Luke when they were a kid, I'd rather have been Han. He was cocky and the only one out the lot who could act back then!
