I've got the combo, not a bad amp for the money.

Yep, a Carvin Legacy will come close. But honestly ya cant really match the sound of a Mesa exactly. There are several boutique amps out there that will come even closer then the Carvin but they are not cheap either.

What's up Noize,

I wasn't actually thinking of the Legacy itself as imitating a Mesa, it pretty much has a sound of it's own. But maybe something like the Master Tube Series as it's more geared for a metal/crunch sound.

There's also a new three channel tube series that looks awesome but it doesn't seem to be featured on their online catalog yet. It's in the newest mail catalog though

Hey Mike, nice to see ya.

Ya, the Master series would match the Mesa sound a little closer indeed. I have not heard one of the new 3 channels yet, but did hear they were supposed to be up on the level with some of those high end amps like the Mesa and Soldano. That is getting up there.

Have you heard anything on what they might be selling for yet?

What kind of Mesa are you looking to emulate? Like a triple rectifier, or one of the vintage series ones like yours, or what?

Yup, the head by itself is $899.99, and you can grab the 1/2 stack for $1349.99 which officially makes it Carvin's most expensive amp lineup but still signifigantly more affordable than the other biggies mentioned. Of course, if you want the 3 channel switch pedal, that's another 40 bucks. It always kinda bugged me that it's not just included with the amp, I mean it really is a key part the amp's live functionality.

It's too bad there isn't a combo version yet, stacks just aren't very practical for me right now. It does look like an awesome amp though.

I have a San-Amp Tri-AC, which has a setting for a MESA type amp. Run in conjunction with a tube pre-amp, this sounds pretty darn good.

No, it's not a full blown MESA, but you need some raw power to get that kind of saturation. I doubt that my wife would understand.

Yes indeed it does. That and the Soldano are my 2 most used models. Almost all my good beefy presets use those 2 amps models.
