Key mapping question

I know I've posted this before but...

I've got a Delta 44, and a M-Audio Radium 49 going through my USB port. I was wondering if there was anyway to load individual samples to the keys of the radium, like one key saying something, another key being a guitar loop, and so on. If that's possible how would I go about doing it? Using sonar 4 also.

You can use a free software program, i'm looking for it now, that maps your keyboard to whatever sound you want. like, the Y key plays a car.wav, the T key plays a trumpet.wav, etc.

It works great. You can alt-tab away from it and it is no longer active, so you can do other stuff, then alt-tab back to it and it works again.

I'll find it . . .

Alternately, one could build a soundfont with all the necessary sounds in it, then play that soundfont in your host program, being controlled by the midi input. That seems like a lot of work though.

So is there a way to use your computer keyboard as a MIDI input device?

Like this same idea, but if you have a program that expects MIDI input to trigger samples, can you trigger them with your keyboard instead of a MIDI input device?

If you're still using SONAR as mentioned in your profile you should have 2 to choose from... The DR-008 DXi2 and Cyclone DXi.

Yeh Loki, the Cyclone DXi is just what your looking for. Simply load you samples in each section and away you go. There are a couple freeware sampler programs out there as well. If I remember what they are called I'll let ya know.
