NFL week three

guess i'll start this one, as i need an outlet.

i didnt get to see much of any other game this week except of course tbe steelers/pats game.

someone on the steelers coaching staff thinks you can play conservatively when you have a lead, and of course you can and should, but not when the opposing team is new england! im really not sure if they were doing that today, but i think maybe they were at times.

this is so very sad. they have it in them to beat this team. i dunno what they have to do except maintain a ferocious energy for longer next time.

Finally, the Culpepper I know...

As far as fantasy football goes, well, it's just not my year...

Hey dB,
I told you Culpepper would bounce back.

Now, if only my Giants Defense hadn't missed their flight to San Diego...

guitar_jim, I feel for ya man...I really do, the Packers are my second fav team, it hurts to see them loosing again. I got a late lunch yesterday with my wife and kids in Old Chicago Bar and Grill, had two TV's in view, one with the Vikes and the other with the Packers...the Packers just continue to really not gel, I dunno whats up.

And yes, shepherd, you called it, Culpepper came back to his old form yesterday, it was fun to watch again. I thought they were gonna let it go in the second half, but they kept plugin away.

Unless Tive is completely blind, maybe he will finally admit that Mewelde Moore IS the running back for the Vikes with Moe Williams as the thrid down runner. Bench Bennett, maybe use him on kick returns and stuff, cuz he is fast...

XTC: Ouch!

Steelers O-line just broke down....Randle El dropped most of what was thrown to him.

Still, it's good to know that Chad Scott can be relied upon to give up serious yards (he broke my heart when he was with the Steelers). Yes, he can make the big plays occasionally, but you can count on him to give up dumb yardage. I think Big Ben and Cowher were thinking of that by throwing to his side on a third and long situation. That led to a TD.

Hines Ward is a star.

The Pats looked disciplined and strong (unlike previous years, where they've simply been lucky...).

hines ward is king of football.

my biggest letdown of the game (and im sure one of cowher's, too) was when randle el went and did that ******* lateral to ward! it resulted in a fumble! retarded! the steelers would have scored on that drive which would have totally changed the topography of the game, if he had just let himself go down.

to me that decision that he made to lateral is something like the decision to go into iraq: a bold plan if it works, something else if it doesnt. i still would have been a little upset with him had ward caught that. god, that is bad thinking!

i dont remember randle el dropping much during this game. maybe i selectively edit. the game was so full of highlights i might just have forgotten. i hope he's not starting to drop stuff, because he's got great hands in general.

(cowher on the lateral:)

Q:Was Hines Ward surprised when Antwaan Randle El pitched him the ball?

A:I’m sure he was.

Q:Were you surprised?

A:Yeah. Hindsight, obviously you wouldn’t want to do that in a game like this. Against this caliber of a football team you cannot ruin opportunities like that. He understands that. It’s just one of those things that just happen. He was trying to make a play. I just told him to ‘let it go, learn from it and let’s move on. Don’t dwell on it.’

I dunno, Randy Moss and Moe Williams pulled off a similar stunt to actually win the game last year...it was such a great play it was aired on all the sports shows and Burger King is now using it one of their ads replacing Moe with "the King"... :-D

dB...believe it or not...I was AT that game! It was against the Broncos. The only Vikings game I've ever been to (except when they played the Packers at Lambeau.)

That was a pretty cool play...

No kidding? I wish I was there, that was one of the sweetest plays I have seen in years...it's those kind of plays that really separates the men from the boys in skill and game awareness.

i know man, i would have been cheering if it had worked, but i still would have thought it was too risky. with this much on the line, no. no no no. this would be a rare case where i say 'yes play conservatively.' randle el really lost us that game.

i love those burger king ads. that king is so messed up.

Yeah, the king is siturbing, that stupid smile on his face makes me want to snap kick him...

Just heard that Willie Offord is out for the season due to a torn ACL...ARGH, that's gonna hurt the Vikings defense a bit, but Darren Sharper (thanks Green Bay) said he should be ready to go for the next game...

In that horrible week two game, Offord was the guy with the lone bright spot when he picked off a pass...

Whoever is running the fantasy team The Equalizer, I have to thank you for not replacing your 2 players that had bye weeks. The result was a 3rd win for me, and a trip to the #2 spot in our rankings.

Of course in my other league, I'm 8th place (out of 8), at 0-2-1...I tied this week at 99 points. TIED AT 99 POINTS!!! grrrrrrrrrr.

And dont get me started on NFL week 3. Let's move on to week 4 already. Oh wait, KC plays Philly. Damn. Let's move on to week 5 then.

So, how's the weather? Nice here. Nice day. Yup.

Though not me, i had looked into that as well. Not knowing much, I figured if they were in a bye week, they wouldn't garner any points, while a bench player would not add points either. So I switched them around.

Anyway - GOOBERS RULE! - heh heh

Actually, you may recall that I created "The Equalizer" team so that we would have an even number of teams. I made a pledge to you, my fellow league-mates, that I would not do anything to the team. It's just the luck of the draw as to when you play against it.

Wouldn't it be funny if The Equalizer ended up winning the league?!?!?

Ha! Then we'd all have to hang it up! Well, The Equalizer has one win...probably will get another when they face me!

Peyton Manning...what in the heck is the deal with him? A total of 16 lousy points in THREE WEEKS of action! Do I dare bench him in favor of Drew Bledsoe?

And yet, the Colts are 3-0. WTF??

Well hell, it sucks that I almost lost to a deadbeat team!

Nah, don't leave man. Go to your "my team" page and take a look at your players. The drop-down box next to each player says whether this player is active or on the bench. If any of your active players don't have an opponent and game time next to them, if it says "bye", then choose another player from your bench to fill that spot for the week. They can't score points from your bench, nor can they score points if its a bye week.

Then you get points for certain achievements that your players make, like TD passes, rushing TDs, receiving yards, rushing yards, field goals, interceptions, whatever.

Click around on the links on the menu bar. Take a look at the "matchup" link to see yours and your opponent's team side-by-side. That should give you a feel for who all is playing on your team, and how strong of a team your opponent has.

Hey guys,
I know it's really late, but if you have a team in your pool that's just taking up a spot for the heck of it, I'd be willing to take it over.

No big deal either way, I'm just throwing it out there.

Should be fun, thanks.

Crap. If the Equalizer almost beat me with nobody at the wheel, I'm afraid of what'll happen next time when Sam doesn't leave 2 roster spots empty for the week :-)

And I guess that my smack talk for the week was in vein as well. It was clever, too. Stupid ghost team.

Just like in real football, this is the day of the week where I've finally forgotten about last week's loss and I'm ready for the coming week.

It's also the day that I start thinking about my roster for the week and how incredibly awesome and clairvoyant I am when it comes to selecting players and predicting how they'll perform this week.

Of course, I'm always wrong.

You're right...who's stupid idea was this? Lets lynch 'em! :-D

I'm out on a ledge right now.

I just found out that they let Will Peterson (our best cb and one of my favourites) play Sunday knowing he had a non-displaced fracture in his lower back. Now they're saying it looks a lot worse and his career might be over.

Oh. Well, whoever it is had better get Javon Walker off his roster, seeing as how he's on Injured Reserve and won't be back this season. Must be a team that somebody forgot about because that injury happened in week 1 or 2!
