How do you add effects to the midi channels? And Im not talking about the builtin "midi" effects that come with CubaseSX but isnt there a way to add VST plugins on the midi tracks? I'm sitting there going to the effects channel for the particular midi track that I just recorded and played using a VST instrument (synth) and it sucks cos I cant add EQ etc to that channel.....

any help would be appreciated!

side note: i used to record the midi tracks in cubase and than save them as a .wave file and THAN import them back into my song but thats an extra step - trying to avoid doing that!

Flame - greetsss how you been my man?? Havent spoke to you in a while....dunno where coolo went...

Noize drop some knowledge master!

Ive been toying with SX with this midi stuff and I'm so surprised why you cannot add VST effects to the midi channels - That sucks they are making us go an extra step by recording recording the midi track separately > exporting to .wave > and than importing the dang .wave file back into your actual song...

arrghhh....

Is there a better sequencer than SX that handles Midi effects?

im good deeps, im working in audio full time now, which increases my toelence for work, but decreases my time here, sadly. im reading the threads all the time (i gotta stay good at my job, right?), but not posting every 2 seconds like i used to.

im sure the OLD cubase range used to let you do that, i think my old copy of Cubasis from about 5 years ago can handle it no probs - maybe its just hidden away somewhere? Ill check my manual at work in the morrow.

deeps, GF has it smack down. The FX need to be added to the audio channel that is playing the VSTi.

In Sonar I can simply freeze the track as well, or add it to a certain audio buss and then add FX there. It sure beats the daylights out of having to export all the time.

As far as I was aware the VST plugs can only be applied to audio??

As the MIDI track is not audio until recorded down to a seperate track, I assume it wont work??

Though, I will be happy to be wrong if someone can tell me how to do it as I also find it a royal pain in the butt...just cant see how you'd do it...

Cheers

yeah the VST instrument IS an audio device...the midi track is not, in sonar, you get a midi track AND the audio output track of the VSTi when you add a VSTi.....i KNOW theres gotta be a way to do it in cubase, it's very common.....otherwise render the track to audio then proceed to mix with effects.

good luck

in simpler terms a VSTi is Midi-IN, Audio-OUT
