Holy Crap!! Did any of you watch that plane with the cock-eyed landing gear come in for a landing? That frickin' pilot is my hero!! I was on the edge of my seat.
I was SOOOO happy to see him set that sucker down like he does it every day. It's comforting to know that there are a lot of people in this world who really know what the heck they're doing...

Sep 22, 2005 11:19 am Amazing landing. A passenger was on the TV News this morning saying that it was the best landing she'd ever experienced, period. I watched the whole thing. That pilot's got some TV interviews coming....
The most heartwarming part for me was the firefighter bringing the infant down the steps in a car seat, and pausing to show him/her to all his colleagues, before handing the baby back to to a beaming, and proud Dad. Then, a mother came down with a toddler in arms. A firefighter took the boy from her, and carried him - putting his helmet on him as he talked to him. Must have made that kid's day. Yes, it's all a bit fluffy and sentimental, but it did show a real human side to things. There's many ways to be a hero.
Sep 22, 2005 11:50 am That was some incredible video, I didn't see all the video commentary you guys are talking about, but quite a landing for sure.
Sep 22, 2005 03:15 pm i happened to see the whole thing live. i had just sat down with my acoustic to try some songwriting and i got wrapped up in it. my friend called and i told him i'd have to talk to him later. it was absorbing! it was a kickass landing!

Sep 22, 2005 11:15 pm MAN I SAW IT ON CNN...IT WAS AMAZING i wanted to be a pilot when i was very young and my mother works at the air port u know........... i was so amazed and i do metal working and stuff now so i have a lil knowledge about engineering and stuff u know.........it took alot of thinking in that short time and skill. u know to empty the gas tank almost completely for the plane to be lighter to put less pressure on the wheels and other things like that.....and that pilot was skill full if he came down a lil too hard on the front than he did he coulda pop the rod part or what ever it is called that the wheel is suspended from and give a bump and make the plane's body rub causing heat and possible explosion
