Ahh this is driving me nuts. How do I install a vst plugin in adobe audition? I install the plugin on the computer, and then when it says open with (and then I choose adobe audition) and it doesn't work. Thanks a lot.
BTW, the computer doesn't have internet if that makes a difference.

Sep 13, 2005 08:47 pm As I recall somebody said audition makes you run some sort of "VST registration" type tool to get the program to reindex the VST's and find the new ones...

Sep 13, 2005 09:13 pm Unfortunately (or not, depending on your pov), Audition does not do VST (or VSTi or ASIO), only DirectX (and WDM).

Sep 13, 2005 09:25 pm Ya it was under the "Edit" page under the insert tab. It said something like register VST's. Anyway thanks for the help dB.

Sep 14, 2005 08:53 pm Wow - who's asleep at the wheel? I don't have 1.5 = I've got v1.0, CEP re-branded... But I do have an excuse... ahem... sun was in my eyes... no, seriously, I haven't used it in a while... so sawly...
Sep 14, 2005 09:19 pm hehehe
Wake up homeboy :-)
Sep 14, 2005 10:03 pm You can use VSTs with CEP if you get one of those converter jobbies (not the technical name.) I used to use CEP 2.0, before I switched to GarageBand (which doesn't use VSTs either, and I'm not aware of any converter jobbies for the Mac.

:) Are you sure? That's what I call 'em. Actually I heard they were called "converter thingy's".
Sep 14, 2005 11:16 pm I use Audition exclusively. VST plugins are simple to install. Go through the setup (if necessary), install them or drop them into a familiar, easy to find folder, IE: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Audition\VSTPLUGINS. Then click (in edit view) Effects>Add/Remove VST Directory, direct it towards the folder you put them in and click 'Ok'. Then to make sure everything is set, close and restart Audition, and in the edit view, click Effects>Refresh Effects List and they should all be in there.
hope that helped

Sep 15, 2005 06:35 am Naw, ain't the name "Thigga-mahbob"? I tried "wrappers" with mine, but my computer is on the weak side, and the latency and compensation just killed my work "flow". (ya know her, right?) Strange thing is, using Cubase VST v5.1, I'm getting more mileage out of my box... 'Course, the quality (or lack thereof) of the plug makes a world of difference, and I've been known to use plugs of questionable lineage...
Sep 15, 2005 07:30 am yeah "VST Wrapper" is another common one...
Sep 15, 2005 08:12 am VST Wrapper...that's the phrase I was lookin' for!

With Sonar 5 no wrapper will be needed, VST is finally a native function of Sonar...which really, matter not at all to performance anyway, just kinda cool :-)

Sep 24, 2005 07:30 pm And from what I have heard the latency compensation in Sonar is working better as well. Which for those of us who use latency comensating pluggins will be a large benefit when you start stacking up those pluggins that arecapable of syncing to the audio engines clock or to midi timing.
