Fender Big Block P-Bass

A friend from England was visiting me recently, so we visited a local guit-fiddle store. The new Big Black Big Block Bass thingy (oo, that nearly went all alliterative) was hanging up, and looking dead pretty. He's in love. Anyone got an opinion, review of this baby? He didn't have a chance to plug it in, but I know he's a passive bass only type. This beast is active. What are the sounds like? He's back in Blighty now (poor dears don't have these yet), but is still very interested.
