Hey guys,
At school I'm taking an independent study of recording and production, which means I basically get tasks to teach myself. The task that I've been given.. hooking up a patchbay - my kryptonite. These confuse the hell out of me..
Here's my situation:
16-XLR snake into a Mackie Mixer
From the mixer I direct it out into my MOTU 828 via 1/4" cables and the MOTU goes to our computer.
My teacher wants me to hookup the patchbay in order to run our outboard processors, but I'm completely stumped on the set up of the whole thing.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sep 09, 2005 03:40 pm seems to me that the patch bay would be inserted in between the mixer and the motu;
mixer channel -> patchbay top (outboard gear would get plugged here ) patchbay bottom -> motu
I haven't set one up before, but that seems like it would work to me. Kinda like a phone punchdown block. Phone system on one side, phones on the other, the patchbay connects the two sides together, through the outboard gear.
