Can any body tell me if Outboard gear when mastering, will sound better than software?
Or is there not much difference?
Thanks

Sep 08, 2005 06:45 pm If it sounds good then it is good...good words to live by. However, it depends on what level of mastering you are speaking, to answer your question, a $5000 outboard mastering EQ or Compressor will definately out perform any plugin on the market but you still have to know how to use it properly, and decide if the mix you have justifies a very expensive mastering job. Even then, you are taking chances, I'm sure many people have gone to very expensive mastering houses and come away with something that sounds worse then the mix did going in, because mastering can be very subjective at times.
