So yeahh, i went through let's see...

the E-MU 1820 (terrible interface, very hard to use, low quality)
the digi-001 (then i realized i hate pro tools and digidesign has 0 support, ESPECIALLY for PC's)

now the Delta 1010 LT

i must say, i love this little guy. I had enough left over after i returned the EMU to buy this card and a VOX combo for some nice guitar tones.

here's the new song-

feedback = appreciated :)

So, you lik'a da card, eh ?

Sounds good, man... I wont comment on the mix, as it doesn't seem like you got too deeply into that part yet... but the quality of the recording sounds fine . How many tracks were you doing at once for that song, and what are the specs on your 'custom' pc ? I was thinking about getting that particular card, and wasn't sure how far I'd have to expand my computers resorces in order to have things running smoothly .

I mean, I'm only 17 and that's really as much as i know so far. tips on the mix would be appreciated. on top of the fact that i play every instrument on that.. anywho. 3 ghz 512mb ddr pc 3200 160gb hdd nothing too crazy. you can get an emachine for like $500 with the same specs. i was running 8 mics on the drums. hi-mid-lo toms, kick, snare, hats, 2 overheads. then guitars and all were separate.

Please don't think I was takin' a poke at ya... I wasn't . The mix just seemed a bit rough to me, that's all . I'm pretty new to this m'self, so any recomendations I give you for the mix have been tried-out minimally on my end, but they do work . Probably the most crucial step for getting a cleaner, and more polished mix would be to spend some time on the eq'ing of each of your tracks, so they're not stepping on the related frequencies of the their nieghbors . This helped me tons :

As far as recomendations to that songs mix, the eq'ing will help keep it from muddying-up when the heavy guitars and drums come in after the accoustic piece... also instruments will 'sit' next to eachother instead of on-top of eachother, thus allowing your ears to hear each of them for what they are without the coloring of other instruments in their frequency . There's also some other articles about eq'ing around this site that I really learned alot from .

I might be able to squeak-by with the specs mine has, but it's probably going to be close . heh As far as being only 17, and playing all those instruments, your deffinately on the road to kicking major *** ! Thanks for the feedback on that, and keep up the good work .
