Hey ! Just purchased some CD ROMs, Akai format...great, sounds cool! So I've got a CD in hand, no CD input on my S3000xl sampler, no SCSI at the back of my MAC G4 !!! See, I don't have my sampler connected to the MAC, I only monitor & mix through it. I have my sampler connected to my ATARI (ol' skool style !)SO...if anyone can help, you'll be savin' me a BIG headache !!!!Oh yeah, I did e-mail support from the CD ROM manufacturers, but they seem to be reluctant at gettin' back !!!CHEERS , CISCOKID !

I suggest putting a SCSI host in your computer, not too hard or expensive to do.

HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT! WOULD A SCSI CD ROM DRIVE(very cheap,2nd hand)ALLOW ME TO LOAD THE CD ROM INFO TO SAMPLER, & ALSO TO SAVE SAMPLER STUFF TO CD ?...AT TH' MOMENT I SAVE TO ZIP DRIVES, WHICH ARE OF COURSE CHUNKY, BUT HANDY FOR ADDING SAVES ONTO. I COULD JUST SWAP SCSI DEVICE, OR IS IS POSSIBLE TO SET UP A LOAD/SAVE CHAIN USING BOTH DEVICES...AM I GETTIN' A BIT CARRIED AWAY?...CHEERS, CISCOKID!

I'D STICK WITH THE SCSI HOST BEING ADDED TO YOUR MAC.

OK FORGET ALL THAT 'CHAINED SCSI' NONSENSE...BUT WOULD THE CD ROM DRIVE ALLOW ME TO LOAD INTO THE SAMPLER? IT'S JUST THAT I CAN GET ONE REAL CHEAP, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, MY MAC(due to my set_up being logistically comfortable) IS TOO FAR FROM THE SAMPLER!...TRUST ME, I CAN'T MOVE TH' MAC.wITH TH' SCSI HOST POSSIBILITY, WOULD I THEN NEED SOFTWARE FOR IT TO RECOGNISE TH' S3000?

OK, knock off the all caps will ya please.

You'd have to check the Akia manual, but if it has a SCSI host, you should be able to add a SCSI drive just fine.

Sorry,fellah...didn't realise th' caps were offensive!...no attitude intended!I do appreciate your help!
So, if I've got this right :
I put in a SCSI host (as a piece of hardware)
then connect it to my sampler...Hey Presto! the Mac will recognise CD ROMs, the S3000 will load from them & I save the sampler info to ....? Cisco.

I am not familiar with Mac (not very anyway) or the Akai unit, however I would guess a SCSI host in each unit means you could share the SCSI drive, or, perhaps (I'm reaching here) you could just connect the Akai and the Mac together over SCSI...
