Ye gotta bless em...they didnt know the quality and it was a nice thought but what a pile of rubbish it is.
The MIC is obviously of zero use, the software is rubbish and the sample disc is not much better. Its perhaps a goood start for somebody with no real desire to do any more than record with an AC97 soundchip but otherwise, its no good.
And, the hype around it makes it somethng of a con to be honest.

If I am honest, whilst the book, MIC and samples arent' "the best" the software itself wasnt THAT bad...and it was free with the package so, its all good for the needs of the absoloute beginner.
So, aye, there is always some good to be gotten out of it tho the book itself was hilarious with its tips for stardom!!!
