Hey all
Is it possible to remove the Music on tracks without removing the vocals, thus making it a cappella? Ideally I need to be able to do this when the vocals are on centre as I have no problem with doing this when the vocals are off centre (using dbPoweramp).
Thanks a lot

Jul 22, 2005 07:01 am My CEP 1.5 could do that, sort of. You used the "karaoke" effect, which supposedly strips the vocals out of a performance, but you put a little tick-mark in the "Keep only vocal", or whatever it was... Never did work too well, since most stuff isn't mixed the way the algorithm works...
Jul 22, 2005 07:20 am You'll never do it perfectly, likely not even well...removing vocals is easier due to the more limited dynamic range of the sound it can be more easily targetted to removal, but even that isn't perfect.
I like to think anything is "possible"...but it's not going to be easy and it'll never be a perfect result...so it's not probable...
Jul 22, 2005 12:22 pm if you have a M-S decoder plugin (or are able to process offline)...a Mono/Mid-Side decoder is usually used with a figure 8 mic (side) couppled with a cardioid (middle/mono). but you can also use it to seperate one stereo track into three tracks (i think, i've never accually done it) Left, Right, and Center. hence removing the vocals (usually) and some other things like bass, or kick drum. it works for some and not for others.

you should be promoted to general!
