Cant hear my effects when monitoring (cubase sx, m-audio delta )

First off - the problem - for you who don't want or care about my backgroundthingy.

When i want to monitor live instruments played by me (mostly guitar) in cubase sx (same prob - 2,0 2,2 or 3,0) i can't hear my effects. This is as it should be when i choose "monitor mixer" on my soundcard but when i choose wavout it's not ok. So when i hit the monitorbutton with wavOut choosen on my soundcard control panel the whole thing goes silent. When i push the button you can hear a very brief sound, thats especially hearable when some kind of distortion is on. It sounds allmost like cubase or the soundcard mutes the monitoring on the channel as soon as the button is pushed.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Or does somebody maybe know a good setup tutorial for deltacards and cubase (the on on m-audios site is not for the cubase i know).

Background: I've posted a question about this problem like a year ago and now i've had my system-harddrive die on me. SO the problem that i've once solved is back and i just c'ant recall how i solved it. When i found my way back here i thougt "Great now i can look at the old forum string" where i explained to another person who had the same problem how to fix it. sadly the search function is not the best on this forum so i can't seem to get less than 1500 hits on any search i do.

Sounds like to me that you are actually hearing your input monitors on your Delta control panel, and not your live monitor in cubase. Mute the input(s) in your Delta control panel. If you still don't hear anything, then something isn't set right in Cubase. Hope this helps.
