Sad story with my hat down for Steve Jobs.

What is very weird and freaky to me....read the entire story and look at the very last sentence at the bottom of this story.

Did you just call me stupid? Cuz I'll kill ya!

People just can't deal with a shot to their machismo any more. Any treading upon someone's dignity or sense of dominance is apparently grounds for the use of lethal force. Whatever happened to a good ol' fist fight, or better yet, REASONING thru a confrontation?

I've never been involved in a confrontation that I haven't been able to talk my way out of. Mainly because I fight like a teenage girl.

Or just saying "whatever" and walking away...I have never been afraid of a fight, but I have never been one to choose it as a first option...

What is wrong with these people! Killed over an iPod?? There is way too much senseless killing in this world. Such a lack of respect for one another.

I was in a quite a few fights in hockey before when I was younger (never off the ice though). Tempers flare and **** happens but it's always left on the ice. It's not uncommon to sit down for beers afterwards with the very same people that you were fighting with earlier.

It is a different world out there now. I won't allow my daughters to do some of the things they want because I fear for them. Even a simple trip to the mall can be a risky venture.

Why is it that people can't just get along so everyone can live life without fear?

Peace.

MTV man, it's all MTV's fault...

Of course, that's sarcastic, but society has been glorifying the "bad guy"...it was bound to lead to this type of thing...

Agreed..the world has gone radge (aka mad)...

I also have (or more used to have) a foul, short temper when provolked. Now, with family and kids, I am more content to abuse verbally when needed but that said, I am still prone to the odd bout of insanity but would prefer NOT to be lifted by the policia!! So, avoiding it now, I do!

I can see no winner in a fight but aye, we are all human and at times it can happen. That said, not for an IPOD!

Anyways, worlds gone crazy man.

I think its economic. As our economy continues to slide down hill there is less money for education (fewer good paying jobs means less tax money for education). People have to work longer days to put a roof over their kid's heads, thus having less time for 'family' and the values that go along with 'family. As more and more middle class people find themselves slipping into the 'working poor' slot, their children will spend more time alone and this means trouble, especially in teens. Their family isn't there to teach them morals, they are undereducated in bankrupt schools, and there are very few jobs or even programs that would keep these kids out of trouble, teach them respect and allow them to earn money to buy the stuff they want.

I believe we will see more of this kind of story as the corporate vampires who are now in control continue to suck the wealth from our country and more and more families find themselves in poverty.

I have the thought that the top major companies are the ones that really rule America's government.

Who is that? What's the one thing that has double in price over the past couple of years? That's who.

Yeah, I agree with Crash, but only to a certain extent...because what we in the US consider "poor" is still very good for many countries. For some people "poor" means only one car and two kids might have to share the same bedroom...now, by saying that I am in NO WAY saying real poverty does not exist, because it does, but I do believe our perception of what is and is not poor is sometimes skewed. That said, as long as everybody keep falling for the "I need more than the neighbors" B.S., Crash is absolutely, positively 100% right, the first to suffer will be the family...when TV's raise the children, and parents are poor role models we all suffer.

My wife worked in education as an elementary teacher for man years, and it seems to her, and I agree from what I see, is that schools do not have to be broke, they need to be held accountable and somebody has to audit who is making how much for doing what...schools are getting raped of money by the higher ranking officials in the school system and do practically nothing, they piss our money away and then ask for more...frankly, it pisses me off.

Agreed. Principles are making the high dollar. Board members are making the high dollar (some are volunteer I know). Yet, the teachers who deal with kids from day to day, isn't making enough. They do all the work, while the principle gets to make important decisions like if we are going to cancel school due to snow. Man, wish I made close to 6 figures or more just to make those decisions. Wonder how Pizza Friday is doing? Oh, wait a minute...I hired somebody to make that decision!

Yeah...this world is backwards.

Crash: i agree as well. parents are so focused on the end of the line, that they're missing the journey. Not spending enough development time with their kids, showing them responsibility and respect, will let the kids develop their own set of morals. Ones which are based on TV, instant gratification, and other immoral peers.

The parents are supposed to be the grown-ups, teaching their kids, and correcting them when they behave in-appropriately. When the parents don't fill that job, the kids are learning bad habits, and not being corrected.
