Goby,
This is seriously cool!!! Your voice (I assume) remends me of Tom Wait. Love the song structure. Very easy to listen to. A well crafted tune IMHO.

I was also quite impressed with the song, Goby. Tom Waits is a good vocal comparison. The chord sequence is sorta Dylanish in spaces, too.

The mandolin sounds pretty neat! It sorta drops in and out of the mix, which is a nice effect.

The drums sound a little plastic to me...I think that's mostly because they get left alone in the mix on a regular basis. You may want to mess with the EQs on it a bit.

Nice job though...good stuff.

Dude, I gotta say...

I listened to the other stuff on that page and I'm seriously impressed! That's some grade-A primo songcraft. Highly enjoyable.

This is very good indeed Goby! You really have nice sound on the production. Vocals are great, you have a very good voice. Nice instrumentation in the song really full textured, nice job! :)

thanks guys-
i wasn't expecting such a positive response.
my main issue is with the drum sound as thermocaster stated. i wonder if any of you have some suggestions on getting them to sound
less mechanical(if that is possible, or is it just an EQ thing)
i use the br1600 which has a built in kit
thanks again for the feedback

Lost for words with all to say.

Welcome goby!

I really do like the tunes! I'm listening to little PC speakers, will listen later on my studio monitors at home. It's hard to get drum machines or anything of that nature to not sound fake. Maybe try some room reverb or something might help. My buddy the drummer uses an electronic drumset going through MIDI with BFD Drum samples that give a nice electronic natural sound. Very pricy but very nice.

I love the vocals, very nice voice. I like the sound! Very nice job!!

thanks vdalehubbard
it is a definate advantage when using the machine to have that drummer ear. some good advice. I will try to add some reverb as you and thermocaster suggested, see if it gives it anymore life. know anywhere i can rent a drummer for a few hours..haha. thoughts on the mandolin.-seems a bit annoying-not sure if it is because i've heard it so many times
