I'm having problems with my cooledit/delta 44 setup. i have a eurorack ub802 connected to input 1 on the delta 44 through the left main out (im testing the setup) and i spoke through a mic and it recorded fine, but when i play it back, nothing goes through the speakers. I have powered computer peakers attached the output 1 on the 44. i set 1/2 to the top of the device list and set it to use in EV. whats wrong?
also, when i installed the drivers for the delta 44, it no longer recognises my default soundcard. whats up with that?

Jun 18, 2005 05:24 pm Lots of things can go wrong there. Probably conflicts between the cards and/or other devices. Try your Delta by itself, first. Uninstall the Delta and your "default" sound card drivers, then the sound cards (if the "default" is onboard, disable it in the BIOS, including the game port and/or midi port). Re-install your Delta (preferrably in an unshared IRQ slot - check your motherboard documentation). Get it to work as intended by itself, 1st.
Now, is the Delta a WDM capable card? If it's ASIO only, then you'll only be able to do 2-track stereo with it if you use WDM. Check your documentation. When you did your test, did you see a wave file image created? Just because you heard the sound when you hit record, doesn't mean it actually recorded. You might have an empty file.
Once you've got your Delta installed OK, then you could try to install your old default card. You could then use the Delta to record & monitor using ASIO, and the "default" for your Windows stuff playback using the WDM driver. But don't count on it going smoothly.
Edit: as a side note, I'd install the included software that came with the Delta and be sure you can record that way. Read everything you can on the recording/monitoring/playback setups & patching involved. It can get quite complicated.

i think on most cards, you need to hook only one speaker to one output....in other words, make sure that's a STEREO output before hookin' up stereo speakers.
Jun 19, 2005 03:20 am yeah, i saw the wave file image, and when i played it back, the sound indicator nars would go up and down with the file for maybe a second, then stop where they were, but the file was still playing, and again no sound. I'll try your suggestions in the morning, it's 2 am :)
