Have any of you guys seen this show yet?
Basically it is a battle of the bands thing but with old bands from the 80's and 90's. Last night for example they had The Knack, The Motels, Haddaway, Tommy Two Tone and Vanilla Ice.
They play their classic hit first, like the Knack did My Sharona and Tommy Two Tone did 867-5309 Jenny then they play a current hit. The Knack played Are You Gonna Be My Girl etc etc. You can see more details on www.nbc.com
Anyways the second set with them playing someone else's hits really sucked (IMO) but it sure was cool seeing them play their own songs at the beginning.
Irene Cara and Wang Chung (lol) are on next week among others.

Jun 10, 2005 12:35 pm Vanilla Ice was awesome on "The Surreal Life" on MTV (or VH1, I dunno, one of the two stations), a reality show that has a bunch of has been celebs. Ice was on with "Ponch" from CHiPS (Eric Estrada) and some other folks and those two actually really hit it off and became good friends.
The only thing I hated is that he so much hates the persona his career gave him and wants to move past it (understandable), but, then on one episode they were all out on the town and bumped in to Gary Coleman, and Ice was trying like hell to get him to say "What you talkin' 'bout Willis" and Ice was totally pissed and thought it was stupid that he wouldn't do it...
Now, isn't that kind of hypcritical on Ice's part, since they are likely both fighting the same demon?
Jun 10, 2005 01:30 pm They had a run of this show here in the UK not that long ago...wis OK but many old used up has beens were on...no real rockers.
As for CHIPS, man I mind that - that show was cool as hell...Also in the vein of TJ Hooker, Miami Vice and Knight Rider...all kickass.
BUT, not as good as The Dukes...of course.
Coco!
Jun 10, 2005 01:38 pm I watched it last night. I dig the Knack and Tommy Tutone. They were great. I didn't get to see the end of the show, so I don't know who the audience favorite was.
Good show, but Coco is right...it ain't the Dukes.
Jun 10, 2005 01:39 pm oh jeez, I liked CHiPS, but those others youmention SUCKED ***...Magnum PI, now there was a cool old detective show, Magnum shoulda got a lot more action from the chicks tho.

He did a remake of the song "ice ice baby" for one of his newer albums.. the remake is called "too cold". Chris, you should check that out, its right up your ally. Kinda DBD type thing. Rock meets rap ya know...

Jun 10, 2005 02:14 pm If your gonna mention TJ Hooker, Miami Vice and Knight Rider then ya gotta give mention of Banachek, Hawaii 5-O and Manix. Now there's a blast from the past. Oh ya, Mission Impossible too. Oh how I feel old all of a sudden.
Jun 10, 2005 02:31 pm that was the '97 album i was talkin' about....other songs are better than too cold though.
AIRWOLF!
Jun 10, 2005 04:28 pm remember when vanilla ice demonstrated how the riff in ice ice was different from under pressure. i just fell on the floor laughing! ba ha ha ha ha ha ha

Somehow I think that our band is over-thinking our lyrics!
Jun 10, 2005 05:08 pm mmm mmm mmmm mmmm
Jun 10, 2005 05:18 pm Airwolf! Aye, forgot aboot that. Also, mind Streehawk! Another kick *** show and also, whilst not the same but also VERY cool in my mind - The Fall Guy...I loved that show as a kid.
I always loved the intro scene a helluva lot and the "Unknown Stuntman" is a cool tune.
Oh aye, old progs kick *** man - they dont make em like that now.

Jun 13, 2005 01:47 am Mate, some of these old shows mentioned here were just plain awful, i'm just waiting for someone to bring up 'Manimal' before i set out to find you all with my shotgun. I'm sure Magnum can help me trace you all.
Jun 13, 2005 08:21 am Yeah, you're right, these shows do suck...hell, 80-90% of all TV shows at any given time in history suck...I am stunned people even remember Knight Rider, A-Team, The Fall Guy and all those suck-*** shows.
Jun 13, 2005 09:12 am Hell - what happened to the view that all is good to someone ya pair of wideos! :-) !!
Aye, these shows ARE cool so na na na na na !!
Well, they were when I WAS a kid..and I must say, I do have fond memories of watching em all.
But, I STILL Watch the Dukes - probably the greatest show you guys over the pond EVER produced. For sure...
That said, Only Fools & Horses is my all time fav TV show...for sure bar NONE.
Anyways, am off to find some old 80's shows to rant aboot and convert ye two!
Coco.

Jun 13, 2005 11:35 am When I was growing up I remember 6 Million Dollar man being the show to watch. I also loved watching Rat Patrol. This was back when we only had 1 channel so the selection was limited. However, it use to be great quality time with the family. Saturday nights always meant Hockey Night in Canada and Walt Disney. Other favs from the past... The Gong Show, Flip Wilson, Laugh-In, Sanford and Son, Sonny and Cher, The Jefferson's, Charlie's Angels. Like I said, we only had one channel!
Jun 13, 2005 11:41 am The Gong Show, now THERE was quality entertainment!
w00t, bring back the gong show!
