Hi gang,

I'm looking into printing our CD out to about 100 to 150 copies. CD Print Express has the full package with
- Full Color hub printable Printing
- Duplication
- Full color 2 Panel printed inserts (1 Page printing on the Front and Back)
- Tray card (printing on 1 side)
- Assembled & shrink wrapped

For 100, it's $345 plus shipping&handling. I know dB has gotten his EP printed with these guys. I just want to hear some input dealing with them and the quality.

The only thing I see as a possible issue if people wanna sell them, is, that if you look at the back of the CD, it's is a "burned CD", not a "pressed CD" like the one's you buy at the record store. Other than that, the burning, printing and packaging quality is top notch. No ink jet crap, real nice printing...I have a review in the archives...

Grrr! Burned CD!

I might do it myself then. I have access to a color laserjet here at work. I have plenty of burners. Just have to purchase the paper, CD's, and cases. The only thing is, I don't want trouble with the CD not playing in some people's players.

It takes a pretty old CD player to have problems with burns I think. It's been a long time since Ihave heard such problems...that said, laser jet printing on CD's always wind up kinda cheesy looking with smears and many times obvious borders where it didn't print the full face (I have the laser jet CD printer as well).

To get the dups without the burned CD is what costs so much, cuz it is much more expensive for the duplicaters that actually press the CD to the mass production standards...

i can get ya 200 cd's for under 500 bucks, printed, pressed, and laser burned graffix (no paper stickers) right on the cd, shrink wrapped and delivered....err i think anyway, maybe a bit cheaper if you only want 100, and then reorder later....

i had 1000 copies pressed not that long ago at www.iconomnimedia.com

they did an awesme job. it was under $1100 for 1000 copies (replicated not duplicated) and a 10% +/-over under run, full color 4 page panel outside b/w inside, full color tray inserts, assembled, wrapped, jewel cases and shipping. it was done in less than 3 weeks.

since you want only 150 copies it will be real hard to find a place that does replication in such small runs. replication is where they make a glass master of your disc and stamp them out (like the pro cds) duplication is way cheaper in short runs under 500 so you will most likely get the burned cds. until you get over 500 - 1000 units it will be cheaper for duplication than replication due to set up costs.

lots of people around boston use superdups. www.superdups.com/

Do not use paper labels! If they are not applied properly the will be off balance. Even worse, if the label gets warm (which it will in the car) the adhesive loosens and can stick to the inside of you CD player.

Is anyone using Litescribe? It appears to be expensive now but the price is sure to drop. This would certainly solve the "cheesy" look.

I have also seen black CD's made to look like the old 45's but I haven't heard anything else about them.

Yeah, Mae "The Everyglow" looks like an old 45, very cool looking with actual grooves and everything.

Geez...can't paper, what else can you use?

"Geez...can't paper, what else can you use?"

Well, you can get clear mylar labels (ink jet) but they will have the same problem as paper if they heat up.

Laser and screen printing are the only methods that I know of.

My printer (an Epson R200) I think, takes the CD on a tray. I just fire the cd on the tray, the tray into the printer and print using a wee app I got with it.

Photo quality, printable discs - easy as pie.

The future man...very cool. And NAE LABELS!!

Has anybody ever used one of these (for example):

www.tigerdirect.com/appli...470&CatId=0

It prints directly on to printable CDs and DVDs. I wonder what kind of quality you get compared to CD Print Express or Diskfaktory.

Printable Cds seem to be reasonably priced:

store.yahoo.com/emediadepot/inkjetcdr.html

Just wondering...

not bad, but still just inkjet...subject to dry time and smearing and such, nothing I'd use for any product for sale.
