Considering a switch in gear...

So I run a Korg Triton LE...Pretty basic.

Now an average schmuck like me figures since the Triton carries MIDI ports, it can also be a controller for software synths, I would assume...

So the switch I am thinking of making but not knowing much of is going from my Triton to a 88 weighted key digital piano. Reason being is I am trying to close the gap when it comes to "feel" between my Triton and the grand piano I take my lessons on. I am getting frustrated with it all...

So I would like to know...If I sell the Triton, to help acquire this paino,...considering the piano has MIDI ports and such can I use this as a controller also if I find the need for synths. again???

They are going well I think...its mostly frustrating but fun. Anytime you try to take something serious but know nothing about its gonna be frustrating...
I just know it'll all pay off...

On the flip side I will be getting more experience in recording also...The director knows nothing about recording digitally so I offered up to VOLUNTEER my time and use of gear to record the recitals for the kids in order to provide memoirs, and progress reports to show how far the kids have come...So we are working on getting that nailed down...I am so pumped.

I appreciate the friendly concern dB...I have been thinking about this site recently in an, "I miss you" sorta way. My summers are simply busy. The fall and winter are my prime recording seasons...

BTW, hows the kickboxing going?

oh, that'll give you some great experience, kudos for that. Sounds like a good win/win situation for both of ya.

Training is good, thanks, I am close to getting my first Belt in Kenpo, but so is my daughter, so I am going to wait and let her get it first. Kickboxing is good and JiuJitsu is getting to be a lot of fun. I am considering actually entering an MMA (mixed martial arts) tournament by the end of the eyar or early next year and see how I do. I've lost about 12 lbs and really built up some muscle and stamina...feels good.

bwahaha, actually, I'd like to, but those guys get mean...I'll stick to "UFC for old dudes in midlife crisis".

I just wanna have a couple fights just to see what it's like, ya know, the "gotta try everything once" type of thing.

or, "velocity", even. Any weighted keyboard also has full velocity and aftertouch sensitivity...

Solid...I want weighted keys so bad...

Its a nice feel...

But on a side note this Grand I play on at lessons is something from like 1910...Its cool. I love old pianos.

But the Triton LE is touch sensitive but getting my fingers to learn expression on weighted keys vs unweighted is f*ing up my musical universe...
