sorry for bein a noob, but which out of the Tascam US122 or M-Audio MobilePre USB would you recommend? I've looked at both, and they both work as external soundcards aswell right? which would give the better clarity of recording? Thanks alot :D

Jun 03, 2005 09:34 am the us122 gives 24 bit resolution @ 48khz
the mpre offers 16 bit @ 48khz
This may not be a big deal if you're staying thin on adding effects, but it will be clearer (the 24bit).
also, the us122 has midi, whereas the mpre doesn't. that was a big deal for me, whereas the 16 vs. 24 may not be as critical.
but also, there's the dependability. I've had a 1010lt from maudio that had no problems, also, there's lotsa people here using maudio for years with no problems. the us122 has had some bad reviews on HC like i mentioned in the other thread. Mines been working fine, but there were lots of angry people (plus some happy ones too).

Jun 03, 2005 03:02 pm oh yeah, no problem. the CDs we hear are all 16bit. But when mixing and tweaking audio inside a computer, the extra resolution will help keep the signal cleaner and purer for longer, when adding effects, etc. That's what i meant earlier, if you're not processing the crap out of each track, then 16 is very capable. Listen to a well made classical CD and you'll know that 16bit / 44.1khz signal is good.
