I have a song that I recorded using SONAR P.E. that I want to change the tempo for. How do I change the tempo of the project without the pitch changing?

are you workin' with audio files, midi files, or both?

i know when dooin' just midi, ya can set the now time to were you want it to change, then go to insert > tempo change and just put in the new tempo.....sometimes the midi notes will change tempo's with out the audio file changing.

i don't think i know how to change tempos of audio files.
go to help and search 'tempo map'

doh!

Hey there,

There is no way to do this. Unfortunately it is not possible to alter the tempo in already recorded audio tracks. There are some devices that attempt to do such a task but never (well, melodyne does but you would have to do each track seperate plus it is about 800.00 US dollars for the program.)really have made much sense to me. They alter the sound and its just not a good sound.
Sorry but it looks like retracking into a new project is what you need to do.

Surely there's time stretch function. I know that Cubase and Cool Edit have a time stretch where you can alter the length (tempo) of an audio file without altering the pitch. Surely there's a comparable function in Sonar.

If that is what you are talking about yes they do...They have MPEX time stretching. But it is never in my opinion a proper sounding representation of the audio file and I think the poster has a bit more of an adjustment in time. Like midi ....and its nothing like the capabilities of midi, as you know.
