IV READ THROUGH THE SONAR 3 help and manual cant really understand how stop dropping out from too much disk usage on my disk meter. Im reacording 8 tracks simultaneously. sometimes it records but drops out in playback and sometimes it wont record, tried 96/24 and tried goin down to 441/16. what exactly is the disk usage and is there a way to get my pc to work with it. Pent 4, 512 RAM, 1.8 Ghz. Should i be having these problems with this system? Iv done all the PC tweaks i can find to maximize power.

May 29, 2005 07:22 pm have you tried recoring one track, then 2, etc to find out where your threshold is for dropping out?
What sound card are you using, what driver types? what is you effective latency and buffer settings?
May 30, 2005 10:59 am motu 828 fire interface is my sound card and using the drivers that came with it. it will record and play 6 tracks with no plugins without dropping out which doesnt do me much good. dropped buffer size from 1000 something down to 16 along with my sample rate and bit depth, it helped a bit but i still cant handle 8 tracks. Id rather fix my pc than loose quality. cant find anything about latency, im pretty new at this
May 30, 2005 04:42 pm play with the buffers....start at 16 and move them up to 32, 62, 128, 256 ect... i'm usually at 256, or 512 when running 30+tracks.....if you loop a section, say a verse, and let it stumble through, it'll play fine after the first runthrough.
