using 2 sound cards (need help)

Hey all. I just found this forum today and have been reading and reading. Very cool site.

I have a question for those using cakewalk or those who have two cards.

I have a Delta 1010 LT and a SOund Blaster Audigy (for midi and general computer stuff).
well, I am going crazy when I record in cakewalk, because I have to switch all the channels back and forth between the SB and the LT.
The LT doesn't have midi, so I can't get that into my headphone mix, so I have to record it as audio.

My question is this: is there a way to automate the change of all the channels from one card to another?

Thanks,
Michael

My first comment would be what cakewalk app are you using...and the midi can be set to be recieved in one card and output from another if the audio is being rendered by the computer (as opposed to some outboard product such as synth or sound module).

My second comment would be welcome to HRC, good to have ya!

I'm using Sonor 3 Producer.
My midi is coming from the computer, but I can't get the LT to play it. I can get the SB to play it, probably because it's being triggered off of that card. If you have an idea how to get the LT to use it I'm all ears! : )
Thanks for the welcome also.

you hafta route the output of the midi synth to the soundcard in the sonar mixer view....just below the channel fader you'll need to set the output to the master bus.....do NOT do this with the MIDI channel, use the AUDIO channel (seperate fader) of the soft synth you're using.

Dumb question--
On my console view I have 3 different windows.
1. All my tracks I am recording- drums, vocals, guitar etc.
2.one with three faders marked "A" "Aux 1" and "Aux2"
3.one that has a fader for each input, ex. SB1/2. SB 3/4 MAUDO 1/2 etc.

Is the fader maked "A" the one your talking about?

Thanks!

yeah the screne is set up like a real mixer....the first section is your tracks, the middle section is your "Buss" section, and the last is your soundcards accual outputs....

i like to funnel (sum) everything to a single Master Buss, before gooing out to the soundcard.....

Dear daddy : )
I tried this, and still can't hear any midi. I tried switching around the midi settings in Cakwalk and no dice.

ok you should have TWO channel faders for your midi track, one is the accual midi data that you recorded/sequenced the other is the audio channel from your synth.....are you using an external synth or software?

I'm just using the synths from the SB Audigy and Soundfont's. Nothing external.

PS you know of any decent cheap rack mounts?

you don't need outboard...ok in Sonar, click INSERT < VST instrument...and pick a sound module...then route your midi data to that synth.

in mixer view, look at the bottom of the channel strip, see where it's routed, ya want something like "master" on it...then in the middle section of the mixer, you will have a master fader which should be routed to the soundcard outputs.

do you have a keyboard controller?

It's routed to the "cyclone" I also tried routing it to the Maudio and the silence is deafening.
No i don't have a keyboard controller.

cyclone is a loop player...use the v-sampler and open a patch.

Oh sweet Jesus.
All these variables are too hard on a drummers brain. I am just trying to hear some bass man....
Do I have to define the instruments in the V-sampler?
I'm functionally retarted.

Maybe I'll check them out on the ninth.
