cable question

Yet another cable question for ya...

I have a Behringer UB1202 mixer and an Echo Mia Midi soundcard. I am wondering what cabling I should use to connect the two. The soundcard has both RCA and 1/4 inch inputs....should I use the RCA or 1/4 inch? Also, balanced vs. unbalanced? Brand?

Thanks for all your help...this is a great forum.

Im no cable expert but I'll give it a shot. I would use the "tape out" RCA's to the RCA's to your soundcard. If its just a short distance, I dont think it matters if its unbalanced or balanced. For the brand, I haven't had any problems with my hosa cables.

Thanks for the reply. I do have RCA tape out capabilities, but also 1/4 inch MAIN out. Which would be used? Thanks.

considering the MIA has 1/4" ins and outs, I think I'd use the main out, so the cable is 1/4 to 1/4...then run the outputs of the card to your amp/speakers...

yeah, check your manual to see if the 1/4" is balanced.....there's a good chance it is....the RCA's are unbalanced and generally run at a weaker level (pro level balanced runs at +4db, and consumer level RCA's run at -10db)....so yeah i'd go with the 1/4".

the rca's are prolly to hook up your home stereo to it or something...but you might find a good use for them later down the road (digitizing cassete tapes and stuff like that).

peace
