DIY Laminates for your band / tour / crew / whatever...

This isn't exactly recording related but I figured I'd pass this on to you guys since a lot of you are in bands and whatnot and it's really hard (and expensive) to order small quantities of these. The smallest order I could find was for 12 and they wanted $40! And that was if you only wanted one side printed... $50 for both sides, PLUS $10 FOR SHIPPING! I'll be dammed if I'm paying $60 for 12 when I only need 3.

Ok, moving on.

First, obviously you have to design them. That's easy. Moving on.

Next, you have to print them out. If you have access nice laser printer you can print them out yourself. You could use an inkjet but they wouldn't look nearly as nice, so I'd recomend putting your designs on a disk and taking them to the copy shop to have them printed. Also, I'd recomend a card stock as opposed to regular paper, however regular paper will work just fine.

Once they're printed, they can laminate them for you. I'd recomend getting them done pretty thick. I believe they used 7 mil for me.

Once they're set, cut them out, punch out a hole at the top and there ya go.

To make them look even more professional, take a pair of nail clippers and cut the edges so they're rounded.

I just did 6 of them, full color for $7.25 at office max. It could have been cheaper (about $3) if I laid out all 6 on one sheet of paper, but I just printed them off each on it's own sheet. I didn't think of doing them on one sheet until I had already printed them off.

So there ya go. Cheap professional looking laminates.

So are you using these as business cards, or flyers, or what?
