I'm interested in using Tracktion as my first foray into computer based music creation. I am also just about to purchase a Bass Pod XT Pro.

Please let me hear your thoughts on either or both.

Many thanks,

dB-Wan did a fabulous review of Tracktion here in HRC (look in the reviews section). I've played around with it a bit. The user interface is a little...okay, a lot...different from what you usually find, but once you get used to it, it's pretty easy to use. The sound quality, and features are pretty good. If you can get through the inital learning curve on the interface (it's pretty much all on one screen...), you're away.

It's not Nuendo, so there's some limitations, but that's something we'll all have in common until we all get Nuendo! It is a very useful and powerful recording tool. Good luck.

agreed, i gotta say if you're also planning on recording guitar yourself, you might wanna get the pod for guitar, and run the bass through it...guitar's through the bass pod don't fare to well.

A lot of the VST's available for free are quite cool too.

Current favourite is Tubebaby. Lovely guitar amp simulator.

not sure how much it costs, but if ya don't need it for live situations, NI's Guitar Rig is bloody AWSOME! even comes with it's own audio interface.

I dont think its any better than the VAMP, POD or even Amplitube (which I have). I can also say there are many free vst guitar plugs which do a very VERY Good job...

Check oot the links section here at HRC.
