MIDI/USB Triggering Delay Problem In Cubase SE

Hooo boy, just as this Owl clears one hurdle, another jumps up and trips me.

Here's the dilemma. I've got an M-Audio 61 key Radium keyboard that does both USB and MIDI input, hooked into the MIDI inputs of an Audigy soundcard.

It's definitely receiving the MIDI signals, and the USB port works OK too, BUT the problem is, there is at least a half-second or full second delay from the time I hit the key until the sound from ANY VST plug-in instrument is produced, waht could be causing this?

Any help appreciated. Thanks guys!

what soundcard and computer you running dude? i get the same problem with my pentium 3 machines. switch to one of the built in sounds and latency will be lower, but this doesnt help if you wanna use it live. once youve recorded, then switch back to the fancy sounds and stuff

there part of the problem right there.

Also, are you using the USB port to power the unit? If so, try pluggin it in with the plugin adapter that I believe comes with it. I have the same issue with my Radium 49 on smaller machines, but works OK on my 2gHz Athlon...

I tried the USB thing already, I now have it hooked up with the wall wart and MIDI connections and the delay is still there

You need to go into your audio settings in Cubase and bring the latency buffer down some. It is probably set real high, like 500 ms or more.

Does the Audigy run on WDM drivers only or do you have the choice of using ASIO as well with it.

I have had my Soundblaster card in my older box down to an interestingly low 13.95 ms of latency with third part drivers. They were however a bit finicky, and I dont use that card for anything other then system sounds now.

If you card can use ASIO drivers I know several peeps have gotten their stock cards in laptops to utilize an ASIO driver from asio4all. www.asio4all.com I believe these will work for you as well using the Audigy. Not sure though, but its worth a try to get that latency down.
