i have a creatvie nomad zen xtra and i transferred Danger mouse's grey album "the mashup of jay z's black album and the beatles white album" and it will not play, i get a play error. first i thought it might be in 48 instead of 44 but its straight 192 44 which has me believing that this album has been blocked on my player because of the big stink EMI made about it?!?! is this possible?

ok so you got your record players RCA outputs goin' into the 10/10 right??

first i'd just go to standard 16/44.1 for this kinda project. i'm gessing this is your problem...i'm not fimilar with Nomad but i do know windows midia player will not play 24bit audio and i suspect you're player is not playin' the 192khz sample rate (and i think 44 bit is a typo)

so try recording at 16bit/44.1khz
and i bet that works....

oh one more thing...

try to get it to some kinda stereo reciever that has a "Phono" input, then run that line out to the computer if you can....Phono inputs have a special eq curve to compensate for the way records "sound"...it's wierd, but it'll yeald a better recording.

yeah i had the mp3s already, and they wont play on my creative, and i have about a zillion mp3s on it at all different encodings, but these standard 192kbps 44khz grey album files wont play. think ill try to decode them and re-encode them, to see if that works.

If they encoded to mp3 then they should play. It was probably the transfer that mucked them up. Do they show up as data, or I should say are they taking up space on the Nomad? If so then the files are the problem.

Could you play them on the PC before the transfer?

The Nomad soesnt use a special program to send them in its own native format or anything does it?

The thing is if they play on your PC as mp3 then they dont have nay wierd protection or anything. Unless this might be a problem. Did you rip them with the Windows Media Player? And if so did you allow it to set the license key or what ever it does? I know Tuna had that problem with some CD's he ripped with WMP and forgot to not set the license thing. If you didi do that then they wont transfer out, and will only play on WMP. I dotn know how many other rip app's have that but I would guess there might be some that do.
