Well, it seems alot of peeps are really getting into the Mogami thing. I personally wotn spend that much money. I either make my own of use Hosa. The Hosa snakes work out just fine, and the rest of the odds and ends as well. For patch bay cables I use what was called a Mackie Pak. I dont hink you can get those anymore though.

What type of cables are you needing anyway?

i think it comes down to the gear you're using with those cables....if you have an Neumann mic gooin' into a Neve channel strip to Apogee converters...yeah you'll need awsome cables....but if you plug a 57 into an mbox...it's really not worth the extra $$

I dunno if I agree. Really it's always down to the lowest common denominator. Ever a great cable on an SM57 will help that SM57 sound it's best...

I think that Canare is up there too.

Actually I'll use just about anything that's not obviously cheap. I almost bought a store-brand cable from MF.com last week, but the reviews of them were pretty bad. I opted for a Horizon cable instead and it seems like a pretty good balance between price and quality.

I wish I knew what brand my main guitar cable is. I've been using it for about 15 years and it's still kicking! It even outlived the Fender amp that it came with.

I am at the point of saying that a cable is a cable. I have some ProCo RatCo Monster and "generic" cables and they are all basically the same... except for the monster cable (a firewire)... which lasted 3 hours before it broke from light use.

Renagade,

I really think you may have to get a little involved in at least the connecters, the difference between balanced and un-balanced, and the type of cable needed. DMX cables for light control look just like a standard mic cable, and do not work well for mics. Many speaker cables have 1/4" plugs on both ends and are definately not instrument or line level cables.
