I have always tracked two seperate takes of my guitar parts for my own bands music but now I am going to hopefully take the plunge into recording another band and would like some advice on how to track two seperate guitar parts for each song and have them mix well in the stereo image. It is a 5 piece metal band that I am recording. Thanks for the help.

Yep, expecially with metal. dB hit it right on the money. The EQ being the biggest key to getting them to sit individually in the mix.

track a "scratch track" of both at the same time while gettin' the drums recorded....then overdub them in one at a time.
