I'm looking for the eprom upgrade for my Alesis MMT-8 midi recorder/sequencer (os 1.11). It plugs into the circuit board. Alesis(Numark) is no help whatsoever. MMT8.com hasn't been able to help to date. Anyone know where to find it, or a good place to start?-- It's a 32kb (8-bit) uv erasable/programmable ROM. Thanks!

If it's like most, open up the unit and find where the empty socket is on the circuitboard, and stuff it in there.

Mike if you are looking for the chip itself odds are good you wont find the original chip. You can try here, www.digikey.com which is one of the largest suppliers of odds and ends.

I cant believe Alesis wouldnt have some info on who might still sell them.

And why might I ask are you still using an MMT-8? I dumped mine ages ago, 5 of them to be exact.

You might also try Analog Devices as well. They are a huge Mfg. of chips fo all kinds of devices.

Noize2u- Thanks for the input. Yeah, every time I ask Alesis about anything, they seem to know very little, or at least the guy that always responds- as if they just hired him off the street to answer e-mails. I haven't dumped the mmt-8 because, for now, it suits my needs in my tiny studio. It's easy to use and I've yet to find a unit that does the same things-cheap. I have the opportunity to purchase a "never been used" one from a guy in Italy-(I've seen pictures-it certainly looks untouched. ONE TEENY PROBLEM- Where can I find a power supply converter for it? (They work off 250v over there.) Thanks for your time. mwaynew

Wel, it's not Alesis that doesn't know much, it's likely the people they outsource their phone banks to...which is lame...

Mike, as for the power supply I would take a look at the one you have and try to match it. Make sure you match not only the output voltage, but the amperes output as well. If I am not mistaken it should be somewhere in the 750mA range or less. It could be more but its been years since I owned mine.

As well you could try and find one for their old HR-16 as well, since it is the same PSU.

And dB is spot on about Alesis. They as well as a few others who still sell gear under the original Co. name are nothing more then a store front with no real tech help available at all. Unless you go to their website and email support. And even then it will probably take weeks to get an answer.
