Signal Chain! Help Needed!

Hey everyone. I just purchased a Presonus TUBEPre mic preamp to go with my Smart Compressor, and I just wanted to know if I should run the mic to the compressor THEN to the preamp, or the preamp to the compressor and then finally into the mixer? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Ben

pre into the compressor to mixer (set to unity gain) a preamp gets the weak mic signal up to line level, which is what the compressor runs at.

Thanks. Also, should I refrain from putting the TUBEPre into rack space so that the tube doesn't overheat?

ummm really if it's got ears, then it was designed for it, there's alotta tubes in racks so i wouldn't see why not, and i'm sure tubes like to be warm.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but my dad wouldn't have it so he wanted me to make sure.

Thanks again,
Ben
