the real thing....

at my store, we've got a guitar instructor who's a mixing engineer at the Sound Kitchen, near where i live...he's a real good guy, and we talk shop alot, and he lets me borrow his personal gear....i wanna put my networking skills in action (after i finish the current EP i'm dooin') and maybe start inturning there or something. i see this as my BIGGEST opportuinity of gettin' anywhere in the recording industry. i don't wanna mess this up, the thing is, i don't wanna come off as some punk home recording kid (no offence to anyone btw) who thinks that just cuz i have a few plugins, i can hang with the big boys. i have a long way to come, i understand that.

hell i couldn't navagate any of their recording mediums if i tried...well maybe the 24 track tape deck...i've been super polite to my friend and made extra effort not to shamelessly plug myself everytime i see him (three days a week).

but i had no idea about this place he worked in, so with a little help from my friends at google, i found this.

www.soundkitchen.com/index.htm

after about 10 seconds my **** got hard (sorry but i'm not kidding) i had NO ******* IDEA this place was top notch.

so how should i go about gettin' my foot in the door there? i was thinkin' specializing in mixing hard rock tunes (cuz that's what i know best) i do not want to **** this up, i WILL smell the wood in those rooms, it's just a matter of time. i guess i need some kinda resume or something....i know this album i'm doing has potential to be a spring board for everyones career that's involved (band, studio, and me) it's got that magic, stands out over alotta bullshit that's out these days. i can guarentee my cd will be played on those ns-10's at some point in the near future. jesus i'm gettin' nervous just thinkin' about it.

so yeah you get my drift, what's the most modest/professional way of achieving this very realistic goal?

deep thanks

wyd

not too much help here but...

don't think you will actualy be doing anything when you start. Knowing how to make coffee is a plus for getting your foot in the door.

Front up! simple.

Display your enthusiasm and get amoungst it.

Don't go nuts telling them what you know as you will most likely expose what you don't. (this goes with ANY industry).

You resume will be your work thus far!

Back yourself though, Go for it !!!
