still need sound card suggestions... Since the Juli@ does not offer enough inputs, and I can not run two cards in the same system.

probably get a 1010lt off ebay cheap now. they're running 220 or so new.

ZX6R1033, don't take this the wrong way, but $200 is a pretty meager budget for the features you want, you will have to go eBay or something like that, cards with over 4 inputs generally go for a bit of money, with the 1010 LT being one exception because it's all a cables-mess, no breakout box.

I am figuring that out.

WHat do you think is going to be the best option for me for the $200 budget? Maybe I should just stick with the Julia? I can't seem to find anything with more inputs for under $200, and I dont need 8 outputs.

it depends...do you need MIDI or SPDIF connections? If not, perhaps check eBay for a Delta 44.

I only need TRS or RCA, as I will be running everything through a mixer anyway. I see the delta has 4 inputs... this is probably the best I can do on my absolutly horrible budget. But, how about the quality? BTW, $149 buy it now.. good price, or should I look elsewhere?

$149 is a pretty good price for a Delta 44. The quality if fine, m-audio.com/products/en_us/Delta44-main.html

Dan to the rescue... again. Thanks a lot!

FYI, Tax return check should be here this week or next. I am in thye process of building a new computer, which will be a stand-alone for the studio. I bought a Samson 7Kit (and am VERY happy with the sound so far) and this friday, I will be buying an SM57 for the snare. Hopefully within the next month, I will be posting a song on here in one form or another.

a good thing about the Delta 44 is that if you outgrow the number of inputs/outputs, you can always buy another and install it alongside your existing Delta 44. It'd be like having 8 inputs/outputs for $300.

nice! I think that is the route I am going to go. I can start off with 2 subgroups and add on later.

Keep in mind that the Delta 44's won't sync together, though. That's okay unless you're recording something like a drumset with more than 4 inputs and you don't want possible comb filtering issues. If you buy the Delta 66, then you can sync two of those via the S/PDIF IO in the back of the card. Just something to think about. Both cards have excellent audio quality!

If you have $500 to spend, check out the Echo Layla 3G. It has everything in a Delta 1010 plus some nice preamps on the first two channels. I own a Delta 44 as well as the 3G and can say that the audio quality of the Layla is slightly better-- mostly in the noise level of the converters.
