Feb 24, 2005 02:45 pm thanks man
Feb 24, 2005 02:46 pm congrats on a successful consulting gig.
That reminds me, I gotta get on track, this gig is up March 31st...yikes...
Feb 24, 2005 03:13 pm yeah i'm thinkin' about peddling myself to other local church's and dooin' more of it...the clients are all super nice, and will pay fair....which brings something up, i spent roughly 8 hours dooin' this last gig over the course of 3 weeks. a friend said i should charge more....thing is all i did was re-wire a few things, tweak the board, main house eq's, and monitor eq....that and got 'em a 4 channel compressor set up for most of the vocal mics...other than that i just kinda sat and listened...didn't really feel like work (cept for the whole gettin' up early part)....so yeah what would you consider "fair" pay for a gig like that? i have no idea what the going rate is for this kinda stuff, but i have another potential client at the local arts center that needs help.
Feb 24, 2005 03:17 pm I dunno, it's all about what your time is worth to you.
That said, churches will rarely pay anything, honestly I am surprised you got that gig, as churches rely mostly on volunteer work from their congregations, and often, if you scan a congregation you will find a very broad cross section of skills and talents...so they often don't have to pay cuz somebody will volunteer. I surely wouldn't consider trying to build a business model around working with churches. While all will pay if they have to, they don't often have to.
Feb 24, 2005 03:31 pm yeah that makes alotta sense to me. hmm yeah they cut me a check for a hundred (what i told them i'd do it for off the top of my head) and i got one of their old rack cases (aarmidillo) it's pretty beat up but it's on castors! which beats my setup the way it is now...so i thought that was pretty fair, and i've never done anything like that before.
