Autotune Plug-in wont install.....any experience to help?

I installed Antares AutoTune 4 (AT) Direct X Plug-in, onto my XP SP2 PC and it wont run. Have you any experience here to give me some advise on how to fix?.

Here are the particulars:
I have two multi track apps.....Power Tracks Pro (PTP) and Adobe Audition (AA). In PTP the program crashes when starting the AT plug-in. In AA it will eventually show Autotune Plug-in as a unsupported application.

For a test I installed AT and AA on another PC and Autotune worked fine.....so something is not right about my PC I guess.

An older version of Autotune (3) used to work on this PC before Installed version 4. Now when re-installing version 3 it has a failure during its install. It give an error message of something like Glj2.tmp failed during the install.

I tried a system restore to a week ago and the problems are the same.

Any hints appreciated.

Might I be so bold as to ask if it's a legitimately purchased copy? If so, Antares better help you over their support line...thats what you payed for. It does (or used to) use PACE copy protection and challenge/repsonse authentication, PACE can be problematic. If it's a downloaded hacked version, there's your problem.

That said, DirectX is a pretty mature and pretty solid standard and there really are not that many issues to working with it. I would suggest the problems may be in your host application.

fair question.

I have old version 3 and legal copy.
I downloaded the 10-day demo of version 4 from their site to try. I did email them but have not recieved response for several days and not hopeful I will. THey do not support 3 and must not support demo.

Thing is, it all work fine on another PC...same host apps. Now, when I reinstall the old Autotune version it fails during the install even before running in the application.

So it doesnt appear to be the app as it runs ok on another PC and what used to work on my main PC no longer will install.

Most frustrating.
thank you for any help.

hmmm, well, a company hopeful to sell a product would, hopefully, offer help with a demo :-) I can understand your frustration completely.

That said, my next suggestion would be to make sure you have the most recent version of DirectX installed, which, if you are at SP2, you certainly should, and also make sure you have any and all updates for the host apps and sound card working with them. I would also take inventory of the hardware difference between the two computers, though at DirectX level it shouldn't play much of a roll...

Of course, alternatively there is the option of singing in tune :-) hehehe

I agree, you would think it would be worth their time to support getting their demo running.

Pitch wise, I promised to make my wife sound good and sometimes even Autotune isnt enough for that:) So it is an essential tool for recording and the longevity of my marriage!

I do make image backups using Norton Ghost onto a Network Drive the image can only be restored when booted up via the Ghost CD, as to restore obviously windows has to be shut down. But when attempting that, Ghost wont find the network drive. Of course I can restore individual files but I dont know what to restore as I bet the issues are with files all over and registry and all sorts of stuff like that.

It just keeps getting better.

For Ghost to find a network drive it will need to be mapped at the DOS level (generally via a boot disk), with the 'Netuse' command.

OK. a couple of good discoveries today.

1. There is a setting that needs to be changed for Autotune to run. Its the DEP setting under system/advanced. Its need to be set to minimal protection. Something to do with copy protection issue with Autotune and XP SP2. Once that changed, Autotune Installed and was recognized by both apps on my PC include Adobe Audition.

2. Ghost. Since I dont have a server, I need to locate the backup drive by entering its IP address. Actually I had to map the network drive to this PC using the IP. Becuase I am just a peer to peer with no DHCP server the network has no way of knowing who is who. So once I put in the IP it worked great! Although I havent done a disk restore, at least I know I can get the data now.

Thanks again!
