Hi guys.
I really want a new piece of hardware to make use of while recording. Right now im using:
Microkorg
Guitar
Bass
Drums
Overdrive Boss pedal
The music is somewhat like NIN mixed with Portishead/Massive Attack.
Can you suggest anything? Thanks.

Feb 18, 2005 10:09 am ummm, so, you just have money burning a hole in your pocket that has to be spent? If you don't know what you want, then it's likely you don't need anything...
Considering the type of music, I would say some softsynth like Project 5 would be useful, but it sounds to me like you are looking to spend money just to spend it...not cuz you found a need...not that it's any of my business.

Feb 18, 2005 10:29 am not really.
im not looking to spend money for no reason. I am in the middle of finishing my album, and I feel that a few different sounds would be a nice touch. im not going to buy something without knowing what it is first...i was just thinking that maybe if suggestions were mentioned, maybe it was a piece of software or hardware i had completely forgot about.
I was thinking about a Kaoss Pad for a while, but realized that it may not be what im looking for.
im just asking for suggestions. as soon as someone mentions something, its not like im going to go buy one ASAP. if it seems interesting, i will look into it.
ive also tried looking @ some of my fav artists and seeing what they use.
thats all.
Feb 18, 2005 10:33 am OK, well, for new sounds, economy and such factors, I still think a good softsynth would be cool. Project 5 is great, Absynth 3 is really cool, that can add lots of textures and sounds to your music...

Feb 18, 2005 11:18 am i'd like to hear your music when it's finished, we've got alot in common as far as musical tastes....anywho how about a portable sampler....i know trent uses one to get strange and unusual sounds, then imports them into his computer and hacks the **** out of them....i've always wanted to sample stuff gooin' on in the world....ummm project 5 or reason will be good to ya....how about HarBal!! if you're gonna master yourself, i'd get it now.....maybe a line 6 pod for some killer distortion tones?...
just thinkin' out loud

Feb 18, 2005 11:37 am I'd think about a more involved guitar effects processor as well, like WYD mentioned. I've been playing more with my GT-6 and there's a metric ton of stuff you can do to make new ideas.
Sometimes just playing with the patches included can jolt you into new ideas that become real projects.

Feb 18, 2005 11:53 am awesome guys.
ya, i think pedals are a great idea too. i dont mind software effects, but i usually like to use as much analog as oppose to digital.
I think i will search around for some really crazy guitar pedal effects i can use for my keyboard and vocals.
thanks
