Firewire Solo and SPDIF

Hello I am new to the forum and have searched but I can't find anything relating to my problem. I can't seem to get SPDIF recorded through my new firewire solo. I also have an OMni Studio and it works on it. The problem I believe is that I need to click "external" as the clock source on the Control Panel but it won't let me. Does anybody have the firewire solo? Thanks
