2002 Delta 66 vs 2005 Delta 66

Is there a difference in these models or are they exactly the same? I have a local guy over here selling his 3 year old Delta 66 for $80. I thought it was a pretty good deal after looking at some other sites and thought there would be an improvment in recording quality vs my Audigy card. I was just wondering if any thing has changed though. If anyone knows, let me know. thanks

I don't believe anything has changed other than driver improvements. Hardware-wise I don't recall hearing or reading anything about improvements.

That said, it would be a substantial improvement over the Audigy.

Thanks for replying. Looks like the latest drivers came out just last year so it should work fine. I wonder if I'll be able to record 24/96 without latency w/ this new card. With my audigy I'm doing 16/48 and that records fine. If I go any higher I get latency. I'm running a P4 2.2ghz w/ 2gb ram.

The Delta card has excellent ASIO support, and I can get my latency down to a barely noticeable amount on my Delta 44. I sent my Audigy 2 Platinum eX (with the breakout box) back due to the exact same limitations that you mention, and let me tell you the Delta card is in a whole other league compared to the Audigy as far as recording goes.

Now for playback and games, it's another story, but for recording, M-Audio's ASIO support is excellent.

yeah, keep the Audigy in there for possible future MIDI use and for system and gaming sounds...

You won't be without latency completely, but like Tadpui said, it'll hardly be noticable, with your system, you should be down in the 5ms area...
