What kind of amp to get? I have a quad and a v-amp...

Oaky I got a marshall 4x4 cab and a v-amp2, I just need to stick something between them that will power the quad...

What's the cheapest I could go, without it being total shite?

I'm really just looking for a little box that will amplify the signal without colouring it.

I have a 2-channel parametric EQ for any EQing I need to do, so all it really needs is a 'volume' knob and that's it... what'd be best?

I think that Crown and Nady both make pretty low-cost power amps. I remember seeing them in Musician's Friend, but I have a feeling that they're not the best amps on the market. Of course, by the hands-on review, you'd think that they were the next revelation in amplification :)

Yamaha, Peavy, and lots of others make power amps too, so you might just start shopping around for a single-channel power amp in the 50-100W range and see what you can come up with.

I hear good things about the Roland Cube series, they have an awesome clean channel. Ive read some reviews from people that love those to put amp modelers in front of. Only thing is they have effects built in, so it'd be kinda redundant with the vamp...but I hear they've got awesome tone.

This one just looks cool... cool name too .

I duno, I sappose I'd start with the recomended wattage for the cab, and go from there .

I will mention that the 500w Soundtech I use sometimes, is pretty noisy . Maybe, it's just the one I have though, it's prolly 12 years old .

That ButtKicker is way to powerful for a 4x12.

Oh yeah, definately too much . Not cheap, either . Prolly lookin' for between 50w and 250w, depending on the ohms, and power handling .

Yeah, that an amp for more FOH uses, not a stage-level guitar amp. You need something more like this service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear or service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

Aren't those FOH amps too, dB? I guess they would still work alright and be somewhat cost effective. I'd be worried about over-powering the 4-12 cabinets with all that juice.

Here's one that caught my attention:

www.carvin.com/products/s...00&CID=GPRE

It's actually built for guitar amplification, plus it's a tube design if that's what you're into. At $500, it seems like a value considering the price of tube amps nowadays.
