all that insolation and foam and carpet really makes for a hot studio, my friend is in the market for a coupple of small portable air conditoners for his studio, they gotta be portable so he can move them from room to room, he's wantin' to get two of 'em for around $1,000. anyone know of anything like that? i've done some searching on the net and have found a few, but i was wondering if there's any "studio standard" AC that is quiet (eventhough it'll be turned off anytime there is a live mic in the room) and efficiant. any thoughts?

peace

duc tape some sort of a plastic cover that attaches to a dryer vent into the room ona standard window style one like a 5-10,000 btu and build a little doghouse for it thats not attached to the studio outside and pipe the cool in without all the fan vibrations travelling through the sticture ?

yes to ballz86ed... just run the dryer vent tube at a couble 90 degree angles to curb sound transmission...and then you can get into pressurizing the rooms based on which way the air flows. Having a portable airconditioner in the room itself defeats the purpose of the isolation :)

You'll have to mess a bit with getting a vent grill without a lot of air turbulance... some epoeple just use really quiet bathroom vents.
